Gaggenau and AD Pro invited residential architects and designers to resurrect their favorite concepts for the Revitalizing Your Work competition, offering an opportunity to showcase the most inspiring, innovative and engaging designs that never came to be. Moderated by Sam Cochran, Global Features Director, Architectural Digest, the discussion gave these visionaries the opportunity to share their unrealized work.

Panelists included: Josh Green, Josh Green Interior Design and AD100 honoree, and the four professionals selected from the contest: Club 1683 members Daniel Chenin (Daniel Joseph Chenin Ltd); Summer Jensen (Hawk & Co.); Ken Dahlin (Genesis Architecture); as well as Gail Peter Borden (Borden Partnership.)

Secret Ingredients – “Spy House” Project

When two former US government intelligence officers found a property, set in a brutalist tower with 270-degree views of Washington DC — they knew it had to be theirs. Simon Jacobsen, architect on the project and Gaggenau Club 1683 member, said the “most challenging part of the project — but ultimately the most satisfying — was the kitchen. It was a unique achievement because it wraps around a wall to maintain the amazing views, no matter where you stand when cooking.”

Montalba Architects Named One of Architizer’s Best North American Firms

Gaggenau Club 1683 member firm, Montalba Architects, has been named one of two firms to watch in North America by Architizer. Only one of 33 “trailblazing firms leading the globe into a new era of architectural design”, each office was judged based on the strength of their portfolios. “Whether small or large in number, their trailblazing teams are producing considered, dynamic designs that push the bounds of traditional typologies and point the industry in exciting new directions for the future,” said Architizer. A Taste for Design: Throughlines Between Food and Design

The Gaggenau showroom, during Design Chicago at the iconic Chicago Merchandise Mart, was the venue for a dynamic conversation between Gaggenau Black Jacket Society member Chef Noah Sandoval of two MICHELIN starred restaurant Oriole and Gaggenau Club 1683 member and former editor-in-chief of Conde Nast Traveler, Pilar Guzman. The two discussed how food, design, ingredients, style and flavors all intersect.

AD Pro reveals Kitchen Design Secrets from 4 Top Designers

AD 100 designer Nicole Hollis, architect Chet Callahan, and Gaggenau Club 1683 designers Cesar Giraldo and Laurie Haefele share their perspectives on what makes a well-designed kitchen. As this piece from ADPro suggests “Large or small, tricked-out or simple, the kitchen is one of the most joyful, social spaces in the home—now, perhaps, more than ever. Relaying this more sentimental side, Haefele summed it up eloquently: “Decor of course is important,” she said, “but I really think it’s about who you’re with and being together with your loved ones and family.”

ADPro Shares Critical Kitchen Considerations

AD PRO editor Mel Studach traveled with Gaggenau Club 1683 members from Milan to Strasbourg on an experiential tour, exploring the heritage, culinary and design connections of the Gaggenau brand. The journey began at Villa Necchi, where Gaggenau launched A Statement of Form — an immersive installation that presented the balance between tradition and progressiveness, materials and craft, and haute cuisine and ingredients.

What Makes the Ultimate Entertaining Kitchen?

AD 100 designer Nicole Hollis, architect Chet Callahan, and Gaggenau Club 1683 designers Cesar Giraldo and Laurie Haefele understand the fundamentals of creating ultimate entertaining spaces. They all agree it all begins with a well-planned kitchen. AD’s global features director Sam Cochran led a discussion on “what makes the ultimate entertaining kitchen,” exploring floor plans, design directions and the must-have products.

Interior Design Best of Year Award Honors Gaggenau Vario 400 Series Downdraft Ventilation System

Cindy Allen, Editor in Chief, Interior Design celebrated the Best of Year projects and products during a Facebook Live event. Honoring the products "shaping our world", Cindy noted over 400 manufacturers from 24 countries submitted products for consideration.

Celebrating the Gaggenau Professional Kitchen Principle

A lively panel discussion exploring what architecture and design professionals want in their own spaces and why was hosted by Gaggenau, County TV and Cottages and Gardens publications. The participants shared their personal choices including what they chose and why. They each spoke about what makes their personal spaces special, like incorporating fine art in the kitchen and using materials that have a “found” or “discovered” quality, as well as having a traceable provenance.

Convergence of Luxury and Sustainability

ADPro and Gaggenau brought together a panel of experts to discuss the intersection of wellness, sustainability and luxury in the home and kitchen. Sam Cochran, global features director for AD Pro facilitated the conversation. “Coming out of the pandemic, we have a renewed appreciation for emotional and mental health,” said AD 100 designer Corey Damen Jenkins. May Sung, Gaggenau Club 1683 member agreed: “Wellness is being able to have that ‘ahh’ moment.” Interior designer Charlie Hellstern believes, “Sustainability can be very simple: access to clean air, clean water. To be able to be in the sunshine and put your feet in the dirt.” Club 1683 member designer Peti Lau explained that investing in pieces that can stand the test of time is not only a sustainable choice, but a joyful one.

This episode gives an exclusive behind the scenes look into the materials, craftsmanship, design and performance details that make this heritage brand extraordinary.

Creative Director Sven Baacke discusses the history and legacy of the company as well as its holistic approach to concepting, engineering, and making products – based on the professional kitchen principle - for the home. Gaggenau Club 1683 member David Montalba of Montalba Architects joins Baacke, elaborating on the Gaggenau philosophies that go beyond the aesthetic, making the brand a timeless icon.
